5 Ways to Stand Out with Recruiters

Date Posted: 08/22/2018

Do you want to stand out to the best recruitment agencies? It can be difficult. Getting ahead in your career usually is. A recruiter doesn’t have time for sloppiness or mistakes.

Here are five tips that will make you stand out with any recruiter while job hunting.

1. Follow Directions

Recruiters are busy. They may be interviewing one candidate every 5 to 10 minutes, and they also may have just as many open positions. Therefore, if they give you specific instructions, you must follow them. Hindi dapat maging makulit or pasaway, if they tell you to attach a photograph resumé, your certificate, etc., you better make sure they are all attached. Equally, when they schedule a time for an interview, be there a few minutes early to collect your thoughts and be ready to meet with them on time even if you have to wait for a long time. Sabi nga nila, first impressions last so not following instructions or being late may cost you a job aboard with a recruiter or agency.

2. Tailor Your Resumé to the Job

As mentioned above, recruiters are busy. Any tiny mistakes may send you right out of the door. In addition to following directions, recruiters want to see that you are the right person for the job. You can show them this by tailoring your resumé to the position, and telling the recruiter why you are the best person for the job. They do not want people who are sending the same boilerplate resumé to several companies. So set yourself apart by customising your introduction to the position.

3. Always Tell the Truth

Being open, and honest is extremely important when dealing with the best recruitment agencies like Ikon. Why? Because many applicants lie and exaggerate to get a job. But be sure that you will be caught out sooner or later. Present your skills carefully and honestly. It’s hard for someone to tell that you are not lying, so, let them know you are sincere right away. If you made a mistake with a past job, and you are asked, tell them. Rehearse what you are going to say so that you don’t have to exaggerate or sound as if you are anxious. Anxiety shown in an interview may be misunderstood as dishonesty.

4. Prepare What You Want to Say

If you are unprepared, a recruiter will notice right away. Do some research on what the organisation does. Be honest about your skills. Know how to answer the difficult questions concerning gaps in your resumé. As a candidate who prepares well, you will show that you are well equipped to deal with any job given to you. Your knowledge about the position, the history of the company, and how things generally work will make you look intelligent and prepared.

5. Be Courteous

Recruiters at Ikon are helping you get a job abroad because they think you have something that their client needs. Show them with your attitude that they are not wrong in choosing you to attend an interview with an overseas client. Be polite. It is far better to be overly polite than to come across as rude or informal. If you have an in-person interview, wear the clothes that you would wear to work, or perhaps something even nicer if you lack experience in that position.

Following these five tips will help you stand out and help you get the job abroad you want. If you don’t get chosen for an interview the first time, huwag ka mawawalan ng pag-asa, keep trying. You will succeed the second or third or even the 10th time. Don’t give up. Best of luck!
